Dried Fig, Honey and Spice Compote

Ingredients

1/4 cup honey
1/4 cup water
5 strips lemon peel
1 McCormick® Gourmet Collection Cinnamon, Stick
1/4 teaspoon McCormick® Gourmet Collection Cardamom, Ground
1/8 teaspoon McCormick® Gourmet Collection Nutmeg, Ground
1 pound dried figs, halved
2 tablespoons sliced almonds, toasted (optional)

Directions

1. Bring honey, water, lemon peel and spices to boil in medium saucepan. Add figs; cover and simmer 7 minutes. Cool to room temperature.

2. Serve figs with syrup as a topping for ice cream, on a cheese plate, as an appetizer or a side dish. Sprinkle with almonds, if desired.
